We made it back to Charlottesville!

Because our bus rides where shorter this year, and our internet connection was less reliable, it was hard to post much on the blog. But I'm sure you've heard from your Glee Club guys and found out what a great tour it was! Thanks to Quantum (Jonathan Park) for the photos you see here. I'm glad someone brought an actual camera!

Our concert on Sunday, March 4th was at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Falls Church, VA, the home church of Bumi (Andrew Orvedahl). The guys had to be there at 2:00 for a 4:00 concert, and after the previous evening's successful performance at the IMC National Seminar in Washington, DC, I noticed that some of them didn't get enough sleep. Not surprising, I guess. We had a great crowd at the church and they were very indulgent of our shortcomings.

At Binkley Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, NC, we got to sing in a really unusual space. The

One of the church members used to have a small home business making sports towels for various college teams. She had a bunch of UVa towels in her garage, so she surprised us with them at our places for the delicious covered dish supper they prepared for us.

At Shallotte Presbyterian Church in Shallotte, NC, we had another great place to sing and another fantastic church supper. You can see how the deviled eggs posted earlier in the week fit into the whole spread. Special thanks to Club fossil parents Steve and Debbie Wingfield, who made the connection to arrange the concert. And thanks to Steve for this great shot of us singing Franz Biebl's Ave Maria during the concert. Another full house!

One learns early on to stay away from the back of the bus! But our intrepid photographer ventured down the aisle to snap some bus portraits, some without permission.

The weather was nice for our free day in Charleston, SC, and the guys took full advantage of the time to see the sights, eat some good food, and stay out of jail.

Our concert in Matthews, NC was at a very busy church, so the guys had to improvise when trying to find places to just hang out.

When you stop at Firehouse Subs for lunch on the road and the guys get ahold of free kiddie fire hats, it's hard to resist the memes.

Our final concert was at St. John's Episcopal Church in Roanoke, VA. This is the third time we've sung there during my tenure, and we're always grateful to Club fossil John Wood for arranging for us to sing there. As usual, we had a great audience, and a quick ride back to Charlottesville after the concert.

Because I live in Washington, DC, getting to and from tour is a new challenge each year (depending on where we're going). This year, I drove to St. Paul's in Falls Church and left my car there for the week. When we returned to C'ville on Friday night, I stayed in a hotel and then took the train back to DC, and the Metro to Falls Church to retrieve my car. Next year I think I'll ask the bus to drop me at home, if it's on the way!
